If you're a fan of futuristic sci-fi thrillers, grab a copy of Jessa Forest's Echo. In the distant future, technology has advanced to the point that companies have been formed to offer clients the chance to travel to parallel universes instantaneously and indulge in their depraved urges with impunity, including murdering their alternate versions. RealEverywhere is an elite company that provides the opportunity. Echo is a MedSpec who works for RealEverywhere, using her Resonator 9000 to attend to clients who may be in danger during emergencies. This time it's somewhat different. Echo can't find her client, Carver. After much deliberation, she finally stumbles across Carver's horrifyingly mutilated dead body. But is he dead? What exactly is going on and will she share the same fate?

Echo is a gripping sci-fi thriller that feels like the love child of the old Hollywood sci-fi classic Westworld and The One, starring Jet Li. Filled with suspense, horror, and nail-biting thrills, Jessa Forest's novella hooks you in from the first page and refuses to let go. The dark tone of the narrative, coupled with the unpredictable twists and turns of the plot, creates a sense of dread and tension that make the story riveting. Forest packs quite a punch in a limited word count, and you find yourself glued to the pages trying to predict what's going to happen next. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to readers who love horror stories with sci-fi elements.
